Portsmouth University-Class of 1995-1999. Spanish & Latin American studies

Starting in 1995 and up until I graduated in 1999 I attended Portsmouth University and studied Spanish and latin American studies for 4 years. It was a really enjoyable course, and I learnt everything you can imagine about Spain and about Latin America, including Spanish art with the wonderful Patrick Williams, Spanish history with Bob Gould, and Spanish literature with the brilliant Helen Rawlings.
I definately recommend this University for anybody who wants to study there, as it has a wide range of student facilities, a very good library, a great student´s Union, and Portsmouth itself has everything that a student could want.
If you attended Portsmouth University between 1995-1999 and studied languages and have any pictures or you want to comment , please feel free to do so. It would be great to hear from everyone again.

The trip to France with Coleg-Meirion-Dwyfor

Do you remember the trip to France when we visited Nantes and the "Futuroscope" near Poitiers? What a laugh that was! I have the pics to show for it, and I had a really great time. The futuroscope was a really amazing place, with loads of cool 3d stuff and weird rides.  I remember going on a boat ride with Jem Jenkins, and eating baguettes in the café.  There was one building which looked like a quartz cristal and another one with like a giant golf ball placed in its roof.

If you have any comments about this trip and any funny photos, please post them , it will be fun to see how we´ve all changed!

The good old days at Coleg-Meirion-Dwyfor,Dolgellau

I attended Coleg-Meirion-Dwyfor in Dolgellau in 1993 to do my "A levels" , I studied A level English, French and Spanish and I had a laugh there too. I used to hang around with Sandy stevens, Jem jenkins-Jones, Angie Roberts, Debbie farrer and Gayle Onslow. I have very fond memories of Mr. Ben Riddler who taught us Spanish, and I loved it when he bought his guitar into the class to sing to us too.  I used to like it when the sun would occasionally come out and we could go and sit on the lawn outside, then when the students building was finally finished it was cool as we could play pool and table tennis while waiting for classes to begin.

Anybody who attended Coleg-Meirion-Dwyfor in 1993, please feel free to comment or post pictures as it would be great to see where everyone is and what you´re up to in life.

Tower House´s Trip to France

Do you all remember the trip we had to France, when we went and stayed with our pen-pals? We went to Pont-Aven and Concarneau, we had such a laugh. I remember that my pen pal Francoise lived out in the sticks and I had to come to the school by bike.  It was cool though, we went to visit Pont-Aven where the painter "Paul Gaugin" set up his school and we spent some days in Concarneau where I remember that Chris Pugh was being an idiot!

If any of you have any pics from that trip , feel free to post them, and any comments about the trip are also welcome.

Do you remember Mr. Bentley´s classes?

Mr. Bentley was a good teacher at Tower House School, he taught Maths, and Chemistry, and wasn´t very strict. He wouldn´t shout a lot, and he explained very well the subjects.  I would just love it when we had Chemistry practical as we could wear our long white jackets and protective glasses.  We saw a good few blasts go off in the fume cupboard, but the most interesting was the imploding can experiment-how cool was that! We even got to keep the can as a souvenir! Thankyou Mr.Bentley for making a ´dull´subject-namely Chemistry actually interesting.  In the photo I have put a piccie of Mr.Bentley´s bottom! It was for a dare, so here you have it.  Rock on Mr. Bentley, you were the best!

DO YOU REMEMBER CHARLIE BROOKS?

Charlie Brooks attended Tower House school and was very interested in acting, she participated in various school productions and plays, but now she´s famous even on t.v!  Charlie has taken part in many British t.v series such as "London´s Burning" , "The Bill" and "Johnathan creek".However she is most famous for her role as Janine Butcher in the popular t.v series "Eastenders".  Charlie has also made a fitness dvd and starred in Charles Dicken´s adaptation " Bleak House".  You see what great talent comes out of Tower House, anything is possible if you believe in it! Good on you Charlie!

Tower House School, Barmouth, North Wales, U.K

This was my secondary school, I went there when I was 13 and it was a house converted into a school. It was a private school in very nice surroundings and I really enjoyed my time there. It sadly doesn´t remain as a school anymore, but my memories are still very much alive. I used to really like singing when we had assembly, although I wasn´t very keen on the school uniform and the regulation school bags!

I was in  class with Yasmine Valizadeh,Carys Williams, Jenny Bustin, Chris Pugh, Jane Hallard, Phil Jones etc. I´ve found some of them again with the help of facebook, but not everyone and it´s nice to catch up on the good old days and the pranks we used to do.

My favourite teachers at Greenholm Junior and Infant school

Well, I liked nearly all of the teachers but I had my favourites obviously, and I remember some of them better than others.  I remember Mrs.Owen, Mrs.Clarke, Mrs.Mcfarlene, Mr.Higgs, Mrs.Grove, Mrs.Campbell,  Mr.Leworthy and not forgetting Mrs.Morgan, she coud be tough eh, but she was brilliant! I think my favourites of favourites though were Mrs.Charlton and Mrs.Owen, I also loved the way that Mrs.Grove used to be crazy about pigs! She had pigs on everything! On her bag, pig ear-rings, pig bracelets, she was cool though.  I also had a little crush on Mr.Higgs, I thought that he was handsome lol!

My best mates at Greenholm Junior and Infant School

I had loads of mates, but my best mates were Angela Hill, Julie Nottingham, Aneesh Warmer and Denise Thorpe.  Angela Hill and I were especially close as we lived on the same road and I used to play a lot with her, most of the time we listened to music, namely "Duran Duran" , "New kids on the block" and not forgetting the group "Bros." We also used to rollar skate up and down our street with Julie Nottingham and play hop-skotch too.

I am now in contact with Angela, Aneesh, and Denise on facebook and it´s good to look back to the past and chat about old times and our favourite teachers.

Greenholm Junior and Infant School, Birmingham, U.k

Well, What can I say... this was my first school and I started going there when I was a mere five years old! I remember clearly my very first day when I went up the seemingly never-ending path to the school entrance. It was all so big and over-whelming and I remember feeling quite "grown-up" as I walked in, but I also felt apprehensive and had butterflies in my stomach. I was led to my classroom and I recall that everything was so tidy with very colourful pictures and posters on the wall. I then noticed an enormous bright rug on the floor in front of the teacher´s desk and felt excited as I hoped that it was going to be the "story rug", which it indeed was!!

My teacher´s name was Mrs. Clarke, she was very kind and pleasant to me and I felt at ease with her from that day on. That day she told me and the rest of my class a story about a princess and her friends and I was very happy. My first day at Greenholm has always stuck in my memory as the teachers were always so nice and it was a great school.
